The South Carolina law firm is offering a total of seven scholarships to help students

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC, February 19, 2021 Senmer News Wire — Joye Law Firm is sponsoring two scholarship programs in 2021 with a total of seven scholarship prizes offered to help students in South Carolina pursue a college education.

The firm is offering six $2,000 scholarships to graduating high school seniors in South Carolina who plan to attend a four-year college or university. Joye Law is also sponsoring a new scholarship focused on helping one student attending a historically Black college or university to further their education.

Every year, Joye Law Firm grants scholarships to help deserving students from across South Carolina with college expenses. The law firm is proud to have awarded over $200,000 in scholarships over the years as part of our Joye in the Community service program. Joye Law Firm is committed to giving back to the communities we serve.

South Carolina high school seniors interested in applying for a scholarship should submit an application, a high school transcript, a list of extracurricular activities, current photo and a creative entry addressing the following topic:

• How do South Carolina laws on distracted driving stack up against other states? Is SC more lenient or strict compared to other states? Do you feel as if it helps?

The creative entry can be an essay, video, infographic, song, or poem. You can find more details about the application and an online application form here.

Students are also asked to nominate a teacher of their choice who has positively impacted them. The teacher who each of the winning students nominated will win a gift card.

Our selection committee will select the scholarship recipients based on the creativity of the entry, school activities, community involvement, leadership positions, individual awards, professional pursuits as well as academic performance.

The new $1,000 HBCU scholarship replaces the former Reese I. Joye Spirit Award, which was also $1,000. The scholarship is open to students who plan to attend or are currently attending a historically black college or university.

Students interested in applying for the HBCU scholarship should write an essay of up to 600 words on one of the following two topics:

• What does attending an HBCU mean to you? Did you apply to other colleges?

• How do you plan to use your education to benefit the community? Considering that this scholarship is a community initiative, how will your success benefit others?

The selection of the scholarship winners is based on their essay entry, school activities, positions of leadership, special honors and awards, community involvement, academic performance and professional pursuits.

Graduating high school seniors in South Carolina who are attending a historically Black college or university also are eligible to apply for one of the $2,000 scholarships.

The 2021 application process is now open. The deadline for submitting a scholarship application is April 1, 2021.

Joye Law Firm plans to publish the winning entries and share them with leaders throughout South Carolina. Scholarship recipients will be notified at their school’s end-of-year awards ceremony. If their school does not have an awards ceremony, scholarship recipients will be notified by June 1.
