Earlier in her career, Ms. Pierce gained valuable expertise in the field of education, serving as a special education teacher for Lenape Elementary in New Paltz, New York, for more than ten years until her retirement.
An expert in her field, Ms. Pierce initially earned a master’s degree in education for grades kindergarten through 12th grade and a master’s degree in special education for the same range of students. Additionally, she completed postgraduate coursework. Throughout her career, Ms. Pierce has written such published works as Keeping Secrets, Restitution and Misunderstood as well as her children’s books, Mommy’s Home, The Buford Series: Buford the Bully, Buford Finds a Home and The Parent and Teacher Guide to the Buford Series, as well as a book of poetry entitled Painful Truths.
For her professional excellence, Ms. Pierce has been honored as this year’s finalist in the 15th Annual National Indie Excellence Awards. Looking toward the future, she intends to engage in discussions with screen writers who have expressed an interest in re-working her novels for the big screen. When Ms. Pierce is not writing, she can be found teaching art classes in her studio in Hyde Park, New York.
