Dr. Blain is a professor emeritus of sociology who taught and mentored students at Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville for most of his professional career. Hired in 1968 after two years at the Ohio State University, he later retired in 2001. Dr. Blain’s system has since been registered with a trademark and he hopes that it can soon be used by the government for the benefit of society. In retirement, he continues to conduct studies and is actively promoting universal basic income to members of U.S. Congress in Washington.
Well regarded for his work in public speaking, Dr. Blain has expounded upon monetary reform at conferences in the U.S., Canada and other parts of the world. He has also published several books, including “The Historic Cooperative Village of Leclaire,” “Weaving Golden Threads of Sociology Theory,” “World Peace with Sociology” and “The Most Wealth for the Least Work Through Cooperation.” Additionally, Dr. Blain was the translator for the book, “Biography of a Good Man,” which was originally published in French.
A dedicated civic advocate, Dr. Blain has been active in his community for many years, beginning as a board member for the Goshen Preservation Alliance in Edwardsville from 1980 to 1984. He later served as an advisor for the American Monetary Institute in Chicago from 2005 to 2008 and distinguished himself as a delegate for the Provisional World Parliament in Libya during 2005, in India during 2006 and in Togo during 2007.
Dr. Blain studied at the University of Massachusetts, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1960. He subsequently received a Master of Art in sociology at Harvard University in 1964 before returning to Massachusetts to compete a Doctor of Philosophy in sociology in 1966.
