Park City residents Debbie and Gary Crandall turned their 93,000 sqft Utah Film Studios into one of the nations most successful mass vaccination centers.
“The Volunteers made all this possible. We were just a small part of it.”
PARK CITY, UT, September 16, 2021 Senmer News Wire — The Park City Rotary Club recently honored Park City, Utah residents Debbie and Gary Crandall with the “Community Appreciation Award” (Citizens of the Year) after they allowed one of their properties “Utah Film Studios” to be used as a Covid-19 Mass Vaccination Center for the Summit County Health Department.
Debbie and Gary made a quick decision to say yes and so that Summit County could be ready when the doses began to arrive just days later. “We love living in Park City and there are many ways to give back and this opportunity seemed to be the prime example of giving back,” said Gary Crandall who donated the site at no cost.
For 5 months Utah Film Studios served as the chosen venue for the plan Summit County had in mind helping keep costs to a minimum therefore allowing a very efficient and effective base of operations that ranked as one of the top Vaccine Centers in the nation.
The Utah Film Studios vaccine clinic that served thousands of Summit County residents was located right next to the enormous soundstages that were used to film the Paramount Network TV series “Yellowstone,” and many other film and tv productions. The carpentry and paint shop used to construct sets served as a home to an area where volunteers filled syringes and entered data.
When available Debbie and Gary have been very generous with the use of the studio donating the space for numerous fundraisers and non-profit events working with organizations such as The Peace House, The National Ability Center and Park City High School for Prom and Homecoming. The Crandall’s are extremely passionate about giving back and serving the community in which they live and work.
Largely because of the efficient operation and according to the Summit County Health Department a remarkable 99% of Summit County residents 50 and older had received at least one dose, and 89% of that population were fully vaccinated.
In Summit County over 15,000 volunteer hours were contributed providing what some called a special ‘community feel’, many were greeted by friends and neighbors who made their visit more comfortable. The volunteer team included medical professionals, administrators, and volunteers to manage traffic flow and recovery areas.
Gary spoke kindly of the community efforts when he stated “The Volunteers made all this possible. We were just a small part of it.”
