Related to his work as a geologist, Mr. Bailey was a contributing author for the West Point Atlas of Landforms during 1984. He has also authored and co-authored scholarly articles in various peer-reviewed journals.

Mr. Bailey received a Bachelor of Science in geology in 1970, followed by a Bachelor of Science in geological engineering and a Master of Science in geology in 1980 at the University of North Dakota.
