After nearly 2 years of conducting remote learning due to COVID-19, Saint James School of Medicine returns to in-person learning.
“Medical education is meant to be done in-person. Nothing can replace the close interaction you get in the class.”
PARK RIDGE, IL, January 15, 2022 Senmer News Wire — Saint James School of Medicine (SJSM) has resumed in-person classes in January 2022. The international medical school conducts its programs from campuses in Anguilla and St. Vincent and the Grenadines, two islands in the Caribbean.
While medical schools have historically discouraged an online format for their classes, since March 2020 the COVID pandemic has required that nearly all schools conduct a portion, or their entire program online. This adjustment, while necessary, has posed an inconvenience for students preparing to enter healthcare professions.
Mr. Kaushik Guha, Executive Vice President of Operations for Saint James School of Medicine states that “Medical education is meant to be done in-person. Our school was able to quickly adapt to the online method and students were still able to receive a great quality education over the past 20 months. However, we are extremely excited to be back on campus. Nothing can replace the close interaction you get in the class. We have put in place all safety precautions mandated by the CDC and the local Island governments and we are ready to welcome students, faculty and staff in full swing.”
The school defines its mission as “helping motivated students realize their dream of a medical career irrespective of ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds.” Mr. Guha elaborates by stating, “We use innovative teaching methods to shape the minds and spirits of our students and to help transform them into compassionate healers of the human body and mind. Our students are trained to pursue their profession with confidence, balanced with humility and compassion.”
Founded in 1999 by medical educators and physicians from the United States and Europe, Saint James School of Medicine gives students the opportunity to learn in-person at one of either Caribbean campuses, and then enter a clinical rotation program through affiliated hospitals in the United States.
