Born in Somalia and growing up with his aunt in Kenya, Mr. Ali immigrated to the United States, where he settled in St. Paul, Minnesota. Proud to have seized various opportunities afforded to him by his new life in America, he has strived to shine a spotlight on the plight of Africans and those affected by climate change throughout the world. Furthermore, he has contributed extensively to the Democratic Party of the United States, having helped in Kamala Harris’ 2016 Senate race in California, and served as a national delegate on behalf of President Joe Biden in 2020. Previously, Mr. Ali served on the presidential campaign of Hillary Clinton in 2016. She, Michelle Obama, Kamala Harris, and former Secretary of State John Kerry have been important mentors to Mr. Ali.
In addition to his global efforts (he has travelled to 28 countries worldwide), Mr. Ali worked as a steadfast community organizer in the state of Minnesota in 2014 and 2015 and has lent his voice to the causes of equal opportunity employment, criminal reform, immigrant community development, women’s rights, and equality for the disabled community. For his work, he received a certificate of recognition from the United Nations Delegation on Climate Change in 2021, as well as two certificates for his work on climate change from the Indonesia Youth Innovation Project. Before embarking upon his career path, Mr. Ali studied government policy and earned his undergraduate degree in 2014 from a private college in Minnesota.
