He was also a safety administrator and assistant risk manger for the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority from 1998 to 2002 and a senior risk control consultant for Crawford & Company from 1991 until 1998. During the length of his career, Mr. Etter also had the opportunity to work overseas in the Middle East, where he was instrumental in his company being recognized with the best safety record during his four-year stay.
One of the keys to Mr. Etter’s success over the years has been his belief in the power of hard work and effectively communicating with transparency. Such attributes have helped him build authentic and fruitful relationships with other employees and a flourishing workplace culture. When he began working for the City of Saint Cloud, it notably had a 1.75 experience rating and, after developing and implementing several programs, the number was reduced to .66 in just five years, which saved the city approximately $3 million. Civically engaged as well, Mr. Etter has served as a member of the school board for Holy Redeemer Catholic School in Kissimmee, Florida, and as the chairperson of the facilities committee for his local church since 2012.
Mr. Etter received a Bachelor of Science in psychology at the University of Maryland in 1980 and a Master of Safety Management at West Virginia University in 1982. He chose to enter his profession due to the many opportunities the field of safety and risk management presented. The more he studied safety management, the more compelled he felt to utilize his psychology background to acquire a position. He has been a certified safety professional through the American Society of Safety Professionals since 2014.
Mr. Etter is a professional member of the National Registry of Environmental Professionals. Celebrating his success, he was named as the Risk Management Professional of the Year for 2021. Mr. Etter also received an award from the City of St. Cloud recognizing his achievements and a second award from Hubbard Construction Company.
