SAN FRANCISCO, CA, May 31, 2022 Senmer News Wire — Kung-Yuen Chiu has been included in Marquis Who’s Who. As in all Marquis Who’s Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Inspired by his heritage as part of the 30th generation of China’s Sung Dynasty, Mr. Chiu has long sought to improve the lives of others. From 1955 to 1962, he and his family lived at Rennie’s Mill Village, a refugee camp inside Kowloon, Hong Kong, to which he and his entire family are very thankful; Mr. Chiu’s mother relocated her family to the Village because of the high quality of education provided there. Ultimately, Kung-Yuen and his seven siblings all graduated from University of California, Berkeley. Mr. Chiu served in the U.S. Army from 1970 to 1975. He then began his career by choosing to serve and protect those in the community. In 1973, he graduated from the San Francisco Police Department and served as a San Francisco Police Officer for one year. After continuing his journey as a notary public, Mr. Chiu went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering at the University of California Berkeley.

Upon the completion of his degree, Mr. Chiu established his company, CDH Design – Architects and Engineers, for which he serves as the president and chief engineer. Dedicated to serving on behalf of his community, he has long felt compelled to leverage his skills in the design of residential and commercial structures to promote a better life for others.

Mr. Chiu is a member of the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC), the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE), the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE), and the American Concrete Institute (ACI). As a traffic engineer, he was member of the California State Automobile Association’s (CSAA) Traffic Safety & Accident Investigation section in the early 1980’s. He was also a driving instructor for over four decades and an engineer for the San Francisco Water Department (which is part of the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission) for 25 years. Mr. Chiu continues to contribute to the community with a deeply involved and knowledgeable commitment to excellence. Because of his efforts in public service, he received recognition from the Montecito Law Department for his assistance with a company tax case. The victory resulted in the winning of $8 million for San Francisco and $24 million for Los Angeles, which was subsequently used as a basis for a new tax law in California.

His mother, Yue Bing Leo created and patented a geometric theory book titled “Trisect Any Angle” on November 18, 1970. Mr. Chiu himself is skilled and very knowledgeable in Chinese calligraphy and poetry and learned the art of embroidery from my mother.

Looking toward the future, Mr. Chiu hopes to continue expanding the scope of his career as an architectural engineer and consultant.
